![]() Member Communications Events/Calendar Chapter Advertising In November 2006, the Longs Peak and Flatirons Chapters joined the Denver Area Chapter in its annual advertising campaign. The Chapters achieved excellent coverage through a multi-tiered campaign designed to increase consumer awareness of credit union benefits, including better interest rates and lower fees. Coverage included an eight-minute segment on Colorado & Company, a magazine-style show; a Colorado Credit Unions 9News.com “splash page” focused on the benefits of credit union membership, including a credit union search-by-zip code function developed by the Association to help potential members find a credit union; over 260 fifteen-second commercial spots on 9News KUSA, KDTV, 9News WeatherPlus, Comcast Channel 249 and 9News HDTV Channel 16 programming; and four Web banner advertisements on 9News.com, which averages roughly 18 million page views per month. Branding Campaign In 2006, the Associations’ joint Branding Task Force conducted a test branding campaign in Grand Junction, Colorado and Laramie, Wyoming to study the potential benefits of a large-scale credit union branding effort. Follow-up research in both states demonstrated that a sustained campaign focused on credit union advantages can more than reasonably be expected to help drive new membership and increase Colorado and Wyoming credit union market share—when people understand the credit union difference, they are compelled to go out and find one. The Boards of Directors of both Associations have approved a full-fledged, state-wide credit union branding campaign. The campaign, which will focus on building membership in the 18-35 demographic, will start toward the beginning of second quarter 2007. This large-scale campaign geared towards branding credit unions as preferred financial services providers is included in your Association membership for 2007. Contacts Dan Finerty |
